Ira Cohen‘s room opens one of the windows to the iconographic sign of the Chelsea Hotel.

The legend is residing at the Chelsea Hotel this month. Jocelyn and KiNo as the usual pow-boom duo meeting the illustrious inventor of psychedelic film the agent Ira Cohen. Ira Baba is on temporary displacement after the bombing of his apartment in Upper West Side due an expensive bedbug infestation. Aptly, there is a benefit scheduled at the Bowery Poetry Club on the 8th September, to help him foot the bill. KiNo will perform songs inspired by the visions and company of the grand vizier.

Arnaud Fleurent-Didier and Dorothée de Koon came by Ears. We made merry music, played a bunch of songs of our own, songs we grew up with.

Last week at some point Joce played me a song called French Culture by a chap whom he had just booked at Zebulon. Immediately, I felt kinship towards the music and most definitely to the lyrics, where this chap is coming from. It turns out, he is the quintessential French singer-songwriter with a composite sound sprouting from a marvellous foundation of great French music heads; (to name a few signifieds that come to mind) early Leo Ferre, piano of Satie via Jacques Dutronc‘s ballads, Michel Legrand, and whoever were writing eroto-romantic strings with celluloid harmonies in the 70s French flicks — all of which certainly that are present in my musical atmosphere.

His name is Arnaud Fleurent Didier. Physically reminds me of Joce mixed with my maestro mate Darren Berry. He conceptually and tastefully puts his parent’s and grandparent’s generations on the line of inquiry for contributing to the evolution of the most mediocre generation yet; ours.

In the span of a week, I found myself singing along to his whole record Reproductions. So, I went to see him and his band; featuring the saucy Dorothée De Koon (voice, bass, electric piano), minus Milo McMullen and the drummer Stéphane Fleurent-Didier perform at Moma.
