The first music video I have ever been commissioned for is in the making for these lads, Ash – from Northern Ireland who sold over 8 million copies worldwide. ‘The best American cameraman’ as father Godard once spoke of him. Albert Maysles, along with his brother David made documentary films classified under Direct Cinema; a school of filmmaking that bears similar traits my school, Cinema Verité, which means Kino-Pravda (Film Truth) in French. The concept was pioneered by Dziga Vertov in the 1920s. Patti Smith’s exhibition at Robert Miller Gallery, New York.
